About
George Waring is an experienced centre-forward whose physical presence, aerial ability and eye for goal have made him a valuable addition to the Warrington Rylands attack. Standing at 6ft 5in, Waring brings a powerful focal point to the frontline and combines his strength with the technical quality and experience gained throughout a distinguished footballing career. Born in Chester on 2 December 1994, Waring began his football journey with Chester FC before joining Everton's academy at the age of 14. He later moved to Stoke City, where he progressed through the youth ranks and earned opportunities in the professional game. During his time with the Potters, he enjoyed successful loan spells with Barnsley, Oxford United, Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United, gaining valuable experience across the English Football League. Following his departure from Stoke, Waring joined Tranmere Rovers before going on to represent FC Halifax Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Chester and Curzon Ashton. Throughout his career he has built a reputation as a hardworking and intelligent striker, capable of leading the line, holding up play and bringing teammates into the game while also posing a consistent goal threat. Waring initially joined Warrington Rylands on loan from Curzon Ashton in October 2024 and quickly made an impression with his performances and attitude. His impact led the club to secure his services on a permanent basis the following month, and he subsequently committed his future to Rylands ahead of the 2025/26 season. Known for his professionalism, leadership and experience, Waring provides an important presence both on and off the pitch. Whether scoring goals, creating opportunities for teammates or battling against opposition defenders, he continues to play a key role in Warrington Rylands' ambitions and brings a wealth of knowledge to a talented squad.
