A five hour journey due to an accident on the motorway and a delayed kick off did not affect Warrington Rylands on their travels to Morpeth Town as they triumphed 1-3.

Two of the new signings made by Sam Wilson and Dean Furman, joint interim managers, were in the starting line-up, both scoring a goal with reliable midfielder Ben Hardcastle getting a third

After a goalless draw against Hyde United The Blues remained second in the league whilst Morpeth sat at 13th after losing to Macclesfield. With just 6 more games left in the season every team has something to play for, be it promotion or avoiding relegation and the Highwaymen certainly tried to hold up Ryland’s away form

Twenty-two minutes after the delayed kick off Ollie Shenton latched onto a cross from Mo Touary to put the ball past Dan Lowson for the first goal

Andrew Johnson equalised 15 minutes later with a superb shot into the bottom corner beating the diving Luke Pilling, but Ben Hardcastle popped up to put Warrington in the lead at half time from a Dan Cockerline cross.

The second half was an end-to-end battle but the quality of The Blues shone through. Mark Duffy, replacing Momodou Touray, laid a perfect cross for Sam Burns to also score on his debut. Morpeth came strong towards the end of the match but in this case it was too little too late.

With a long journey home and less than two days before their home game against rival promotion contenders Marine on Easter Monday, Warrington Rylands will need to rest their legs as much as possible before this top of the table clash.
