Marine 1-0 Warrington Rylands FC

THE curtain came down on Warrington Rylands’ season with a narrow 1-0 play-off defeat at Marine.

After a goaless first-half the home side broke the deadlock through Sol Soloman and held on to the final whistle despite plenty of endeavour from the visitors infront of a 1,778 crowd, with the travelling fans remaining vocal after the final whistle.

The first half was an end to end affair with Marine having more of the possession but unable to penetrate The Blue’s solid defence.

Warrington Rylands had their chances but too many miss-passes kept the score at 0-0 when the referee blew for half time.
Warrington came back out full of energy making two shots at goal in the first few minutes, but then the home side took the ball to the other end of the pitch, pulled the ball back from the goal line where Sol Solomon tapped it in for a 39th minute goal.

Marine began putting on the pressure and the away side could only make wild clearances.
With just 15 minutes on the clock the supporters accused Clive Smith of time wasting when he removed his vest before taking a throw; now it was the home side who took every opportunity to run the clock down.
Warrington Rylands still made chances but just failed at the final hurdle.

The final will now take place at Macclesfield on Bank Holiday Monday. Macclesfield beat Worksop 3-1 and take the home advantage.
